Netflix is a leading subscription based streaming video service.

Before you manually close the account of the deceased individual, you are required to have the user account information. If you do not have access to the user’s account, reach out immediately to Netflix here

Be ready to provide the following information of the deceased account owner:

  1. Email address and/or phone number
  2. The full payment information

If you do have the login information, follow these steps to help you close the account.

To cancel your account and end your membership, start by signing into your account. There are two different plans on Netflix — streaming plans and DVD plans (US only). Verify which plans you need to close.

Streaming plans:

  1. Sign into the account.
  2. Navigate to the arrow next to the profile picture on the top right hand corner of the page . Click it and select “Account.”
  3. Under membership & billing, select “Cancel Membership.”
  4. Afterwards, select “Finish Cancellation.”

DVD plans (United States only):

  1. Sign into the account.
  2. Navigate to the arrow next to the profile picture on the top right hand corner of the page. Click it and select “Account.”
  3. Select “cancel your DVD plan.” Make sure you return all of the DVDs by the end of your billing cycle to avoid any additional charges.

In addition, remember that Netflix will permanently delete your canceled account after 10 months. Therefore, your recommendations, ratings, and account details will be saved for 10 months. If you have a DVD plan, the account’s Queue will be also saved for 10 months. Afterwards, the account will be closed forever.
